Select In-DB Tool

The Select In-DB tool selects, deselects, renames, and reorders fields in an In-DB workflow.

Why you would use this tool

Use the Select In-DB tool to limit the amount of fields in an In-Database data stream. In many cases, limiting the amount of data passing through a workflow can significantly improve runtimes and performance. There are other common use cases for the Select In-DB tool as you can rename and reorder data fields, and change field data types.

How to use this tool

  1. Drag a Select In-DB tool from the Tool Palette onto the workflow canvas.

  2. Connect another In-DB tool's output to the input of the Select In-DB tool.

  3. With the Select In-DB tool selected on the canvas, configure the tool using the Configuration window on the left.

  4. The Configuration properties show a table schema view of the incoming data stream. Field order is displayed with Field number, Field Name, Type, size, Rename and Description.
