Tree Tool

The Tree tool will display an organized, hierarchical data structure in an app or macro. The selections made by the user are passed as values to downstream tools. The values returned from trees are separated by a new line character (\n).  

This tool has an optional input connector that can accept a list of Allocate datasets. See the Allocate Tree Data Sources below for more information.

Configuration Properties

  1. Enter the text or question to be displayed: The text will be presented to the user instructing them how to use the Tree control.

  2. Tree Data Source: There are five types of trees, each with different additional Configuration Properties. Click on the tree data source below to reveal configuration instructions for each.

  3. Single Selection: When checked, the App Consumer will only be able to select one value from the tree.

  4. Tree Window Height: specify how many lines tall the Tree control should display to the user.

  5. Limit Tree Selection: Exposes the Filter Tree Options dialog box where the App Author can pare down what levels of the tree get displayed to the App Consumer.

    To use this option with Allocate trees, "Use a specific Dataset" must be chosen.

    1. The dialog box displays the entire tree specified in the Tree Data Source.
    2. Select the boxes next to the tree elements to control what is displayed to the App Consumer.
    3. Set which parent levels of the tree to display. Choices include:
    4. Automatically decide which parent levels to display: when selected, the lowest selected level of the tree will display. When all the children values of a parent are selected, the parent will be displayed.

      Show all parent levels of the tree: When selected, all the parent levels of the selected tree are displayed.
