Auto Field Tool

The Auto Field tool reads through all the records of an input and sets the field type to the smallest possible size relative to the data contained within the column.

The tool will correctly assign a numeric field to a string data type where any record starts with zero and not a number.

Configure the tool

In Select String Fields to Auto Change Field Type, select the fields to auto configure. Select fields individually, or use All or Clear.

While this tool is easily configured in one step, the workflow must be run at this point for the configured fields to be properly loaded and recognized downstream. Run the workflow before configuring additional downstream tools.
