Adobe Analytics Tool
The Adobe Analytics tool authenticates to the Adobe Analytics report suites (to which you have access) and generates ad hoc reports based on multiple parameters via the Adobe Analytics Reporting API, version 1.4.
For a list of factors and tips affecting report generation time, see API Best Practices.
Gallery tool
This tool is not automatically installed with Alteryx Designer. To use this tool, download it from the Alteryx Analytics Gallery.
Before configuring the Adobe Analytics tool, you must configure settings within the Adobe Marketing Cloud, depending on your login method. You can log in to Adobe Analytics with user or developer (API) credentials.
User Login
Use this method for ad hoc workflows. Log in using Adobe Analytics credentials. Credentials must be re-entered every 30 days or any time a new instance of the tool is added.
User Login authentication requires Web Service Access (granted by your Adobe administrator) and linking your Adobe Analytics account to your Adobe ID for single sign-on capability.
- Go to the Adobe Marketing Cloud.
- Log in with your Adobe ID credentials.
- In the Analytics section, click Get Access.
- Type your Adobe Analytics credentials, and click Link.
Administrator action required
These steps must be performed by your Adobe Analytics administrator.
- Go to the Adobe Marketing Cloud.
- Log in with your Adobe ID credentials.
- Navigate to Admin > User Management.
- Select Edit Users.
- In the table, locate the Login name and click Edit.
- In the Access section, add Web Service Access.
Although the system generates Web Service Credentials (User Name and Shared Secret), the user logs in with their Adobe ID credentials.
- Click Save Changes.
Developer Login
Use this method for scheduled workflows or when adding workflows to the Alteryx Gallery. Log in using API credentials. Credentials do not need to be re-entered to run a workflow.
Developer Login authentication requires creating an application in the Adobe Developer Connection:
- Choose Client Credentials for the authentication type.
- Once you create the application, Adobe will provide an Application ID (Client ID) and Application Secret (Client Secret) to use for authentication with Alteryx.
For more information, see Create an Application.
- In the Configuration window, select a login method.
- User Login: Type your Adobe ID credentials and click Sign In.
- Developer Login: Type your Client ID and Client Secret and click Connect.
If authentication fails, contact your Adobe Analytics administrator.
- Select a Report Suite and click Next.
- Select a date range and granularity and click Next.
- Select either a preset range (for example, Today, Last Month, Year to Date) or Custom to set a start and end date.
- Granularity is a unit of time that determines the report detail, and is optional.
- Select at least one metric and a maximum of five metrics and click Validate Report. Only valid combinations of metrics can be used. Click Next.
-
(Optional) Select a maximum of three elements and click Validate Report. Only valid combinations of elements and classifications can be used. Click Next.
- The Primary Element breaks down the selected metric. Subsequent elements break down the preceding elements – the Secondary Element breaks down the Primary Element, and the Tertiary Element breaks down both the Primary Element and Secondary Element.
- All report suites do not offer all elements.
- See Valid Element and Metric Combinations.
Advanced Options- Classification: Restricts the element results to only those that fall within the selected classification.
- Record Limit: Sets the number of rows in the report to return, 1 to 50000.
- Starting with Record: Sets the first row in the report to return.
- (Optional) Select a maximum of two segments and click Validate Report. Only valid combinations of segments can be used. Click Done.
