    • On the final installation screen, select Configure Server now.
    • Select Finish.
  3. License your Server.
    • If Server is not licensed, you will be prompted to license it. Enter your Email Address and License Key and select Activate. See Install Server for more license activation options.
    • Select Experience Alteryx to begin using Server.

Configure Server

After installing Server and licensing the product, you can configure the System Settings.

Complete the following steps to configure the basic setup for Server with all components running on the same machine. To configure a multi-node instance of Server, see Configure Server.

  1. Open System Settings
    • Double-click the System Settings icon on your desktop to configure the server settings.
  2. Specify Setup Type
    • Select Next to go to the Environment > Setup Type screen.
    • To configure all components of Server on the machine, select Complete Alteryx Server.
    • Select Next.
  3. Set Up Global Workspace
    • On the Global Workspace screen, enter a path where temporary and working files can be stored. Other configuration options will use this path as the root path.
    • Select Next.
  4. Configure Controller and Worker
    • All Controller and Worker configuration settings have default values. For a basic setup, the defaults should suffice.
    • Select Next on each screen until you reach Gallery General.
  5. Specify a Gallery URL
    • On the Gallery General screen, specify the URL that you want users to use to access the Gallery in Base Address, for example, http://mycompany/gallery
    • Select Next.
  6. Select Gallery Authentication
    • On the Gallery Authentication screen, select the Authentication Type. Changing authentication type is not supported. Doing so may compromise Gallery functionality.
      • Built-in: Allows users to access the Gallery using an email address and password.
      • Integrated Windows authentication: Allows users to access the Gallery with internal network credentials.
      • Integrated Windows authentication with Kerberos: Allows users to access the Gallery with internal network credentials using Kerberos authentication protocols.
      • SAML authentication: Allows users to access the Gallery with Identity Provider (IDP) credentials.
    • Enter a Default Gallery Administrator. Enter an email address for Built-in Authentication or a domain user (for Windows Authentication).
    • Select Next.
  7. Disable SMTP Server
    • On the Gallery SMTP Configuration screen uncheck Enable SMTP to complete the Server setup without SMTP. Email notifications from the Gallery are disabled until you configure SMTP settings.
    • Select Next.
  8. Finish Configuration
    • Select Next to view or change the rest of the Gallery and Engine settings.
    • Select Finish. The server services will start.
    • Select Done to close System Settings
