Custom Fields
A custom field is an attribute assigned to an asset, such as a data source, workflow, or report. This attribute helps to specify what the asset is.
Some attributes can be applied to any asset and some are related only to a specific types of an asset. You can create a completely new attribute, assign it to a specific asset type, and set its value. Custom fields are stored in the Connect data catalog.
There are several types of custom fields:
- Picker: Similar to the Dropdown custom field, except that values are populated from the content based on a search query.
- Dropdown: A pre-defined list of hard-coded values. You can define the values while you create the custom field.
- Text field: Information that can be entered only as plain text.
To create a custom field:
- Navigate to Administration.
- Go to Asset Configuration > Custom Fields > Add Custom Field.
- The Custom field window displays. Specify the Name and Type of the custom field.
- Select either the Picker, Dropdown, or Text custom field type.
