Data Movement

To generate insights on a dataset, Alteryx One needs the data in Alteryx Data Storage (ADS). If a dataset comes from an external connection, such as Snowflake or Amazon S3, and isn't already in ADS, Alteryx One copies it to Alteryx Data Storage (ADS) first. This copy is called data movement.

Datasets already stored in ADS don't need to be copied and aren't affected by this policy. The copy reflects the dataset as of its last refresh and is retained for 30 days.

Nota

If your workspace is configured with Private Data Storage (PDS), data isn't copied to ADS. Auto Insights generates insights directly in your PDS.

Data movement occurs when you attempt to use your dataset with these features:

  • Data Insights

  • Explore Data Insights

  • Custom Reports

  • Preset Reports

  • Agent Studio
