Manage Licenses in Alteryx Designer
View, activate, and manage product licenses, including data sets, Alteryx Designer Desktop Automation, and additional server CPU cores, in the Manage Licenses window in Designer. For license administrator options, visit View Licenses.
A license key is required to activate an Alteryx product. Follow the instructions for using the Standard License System unless your license administrator has provided you with a URL for a License Server.
Use Standard License System
Use the license key from your license administrator to activate the product.
Use the Manage Licenses window to view the product name, license key, and expiration date for all licenses activated on the computer. You can also renew a license and activate additional licenses. The Manage Licenses window does not display inactive licenses, expired licenses, license seats, or product version numbers.
To view license keys by expiration date in Designer select Options > Manage Licenses. The system displays active licenses by expiration date.
Use the Manage Licenses window to activate a base product (Designer or Server), as well as data sets, Alteryx Designer Desktop Automation, and additional server CPU cores.
Select Options > Manage Licenses.
In the Manage Licenses window, select Activate New License.
In the Alteryx Designer Activation window, enter your email address.
Enter or paste your License Keys, one per line.
Select Activate.
In the Activation Success window, select Experience Alteryx.
Use the Manage Licenses window to deactivate your license. Once a license is deactivated, you can activate it on another computer or free up the license for another user.
Select Options > Manage Licenses.
Select the checkbox for each license you want to deactivate.
Select Deactivate License.
Select OK to confirm the deactivation.
Alteryx displays the license key so you can copy it and reuse it on another computer.
Designer displays a notification message when a license is about to expire, has already expired, or has been revoked by a license administrator.
To renew a license, obtain a new license key from your license administrator and follow these steps:
Select Options > Manage Licenses.
In the Manage Licenses window, select Activate New License.
In the Alteryx Designer Activation window, enter your email address.
Enter or paste your License Keys, one per line.
Select Activate.
In the Activation Success window, select Experience Alteryx.
Use License Server
Use the License Server URL from your license administrator to connect to a License Server.
To connect to your License Server...
Launch Designer.
Select Options > Manage Licenses.
In the Manage Licenses window, select the settings icon.
Select Change License System or Connect to License Server.
Review the confirmation message and then select Continue.
In License Server Connectivity, enter your email address.
Enter or paste the License Server URL.
Select Connect. The system displays available licenses.
Once you activate a license, you can use Alteryx even when not connected to your License Server, for a specified period of time. Alteryx displays a notification message with the number of days remaining before you are required to reconnect to the License Server.
Use the Manage Licenses window to activate a base product (Designer or Server), data sets, Alteryx Designer Desktop Automation, and additional server CPU cores.
In Designer, select Options > Manage Licenses.
Enter the License Server URL to connect to the License Server, for example, http://111.222.0.30:7070/request.
In the Manage Licenses window, select Activate for each product you want to activate.
Select Close.
Use the Manage Licenses window to deactivate a product. You cannot deactivate additional server CPU cores associated with Alteryx Server. To deactivate a product...
In Designer, select Options > Manage Licenses.
Connect to the License Server by entering the License Server URL, for example, http://111.222.0.30:7070/request.
In the Manage Licenses window, select Deactivate for each product you want to deactivate.
Select Close.
Change License System
If directed by your license administrator, you can change from the Standard License System to a License Server.
Change from License Server to Standard License System
To change the license system...
Launch Designer.
Select Options > Manage Licenses.
In the Manage Licenses window, select the settings icon.
Select Change License System or Connect to License Server.
Review the confirmation message and then select Continue.
Connect to the License Server by entering the License Server URL, for example, http://111.222.0.30:7070/request.
Any active licenses are returned to the License Server. The license may be unavailable if you decide to come back. To free up the license for another user, select Cancel and then deactivate the license before changing the license system.
