Designer Compatibility with Data Connectors

Important information:

• No forward or backward compatibility. If you upgrade Designer or the connector, you have to upgrade the other one as well. See compatibility matrix for details.

• Redirect URI setup required. The new version requires a new Redirect URI but Azure allows for multiple Redirect URIs, so you can add https://cef.alteryx.com/designer/oauthcallback to OAuth 2.0 Redirect URI and use the same custom app across multiple connector versions.

Impacted connectors: Box

The functionality of the Box connector is also dependent on the authentication method.

1. Sign in via Internet Browser method is impacted only if you use SSO via Azure Active Directory. See the compatibility matrix for details.

2. Sign in via Internet Browser with custom Box application method is also impacted only if you use SSO via Azure Active Directory. Box 2.1.1 requires the new Redirect URI but it doesn’t allow for multiple Redirect URIs, so you have 2 options:

   1. Add https://cef.alteryx.com/designer/oauthcallback to OAuth 2.0 Redirect URI and upgrade all users.
      

   2. Create a new app and let the users decide between them based on the connector version they are using.

   • In the case of Designer 21.3.3 or later, you have to add  file://* in CORS Domains > Allowed Origins.
     

3. JSON Web Token in Designer 21.3.2 or later requires you to allowlist the file://* in CORS Domains > Allowed Origins regardless of the connector version.

1. If you use SSO via Azure Active Directory, see the compatibility matrix for details.

2. If you use SSO via Azure Active Directory and a custom application, the compatibility matrix above applies and you need to add https://cef.alteryx.com/designer/oauthcallback to the application.
