Last modified: February 18, 2022

Learn how to configure Okta with Platform.

You need admin access to both Okta and Alteryx Platform to set up this configuration.

To complete this configuration, you have to follow these steps:

  1. Create the configuration in Platform.
  2. Add the Platform as an app in Okta.
  3. Map attributes in Okta.
  4. Complete the configuration in Platform.

Because you have to perform actions in both Platform and in Okta, we recommend that you open them in separate tabs in your browser before you begin the configuration process.

1. Create Identity Provider (IdP) Configuration

  1. Sign into the Platform as an admin.
  2. Go to Admin Single Sign-On.
  3. Enter the name of your IdP into Identity Provider Name. The name displays on users' sign-in screens.
  4. Copy these values so you can paste them into Okta:
    • Entity ID
    • Single Sign-On URL
    • Destination URL
    • Recipient URL

2. Add Platform as an App in IdP

  1. Sign into Okta as an admin.
  2. From Applications, select Applications.
  3. Select Create App Integration.
  4. Select SAML 2.0.
  5. In App name, enter the name you want to give your instance of Platform.
  6. Select Next.
  7. In Single sign on URL, paste some of the information you previously copied from Platform:
    • Single Sign-On URL
    • Destination URL
    • Recipient URL
  8. In Audience URI (SP Entity ID), paste the entity ID you previously copied from Platform.
  9. Select Save and Continue.

3. Map Attributes in IdP

You have to create 3 attributes in Okta:

  1. Email
  2. 1st Name
  3. Last Name

Email

  1. Select Add Another.
  2. In Name for the attribute statement, enter email.
  3. In Value for the attribute statement, enter user.email.
