About Alteryx License Keys

Last modified: July 08, 2021

Alteryx uses FlexNet Operations (FNO) as a 3rd-party service to provide licensing administration. Alteryx is the producer of the license, a user is the user of the license. The Flexera service captures and stores the information necessary to activate and validate a license key on a device.

License keys are user and device based. A license key is attached to a user’s email address and a device. The combination of a device or machine name together with a user's email address creates a device ID.

  • A license key is required to activate an Alteryx product. A license key is also required the first time you sign in to the Alteryx Downloads and Licenses portal. The initial license key you use to sign in can be any valid license key associated with your organization. You can obtain a license key for each product you want to activate from your license administrator.

  • Starting with Alteryx version 11.8, you will use a Flexera Software license key in this format:

     XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

Use this key to sign in to the Alteryx Downloads and Licenses portal at licenses.alteryx.com, download a product, and activate a product. For licensing help with previous versions, visit our Community article.

  • All users need a valid license key to sign in to the Alteryx Downloads and Licenses portal for the first time. All users can view product downloads associated with their organization and view release notes.

Email Addresses and License Keys

The Alteryx Downloads and Licenses portal uses the email address you register with to activate the license key or license keys you use. This associates your email address with the machine where you activate the keys and with the portal itself. Your email address then becomes part of the machine ID. Visit Manage Partner Data Licenses for information about user or machine serial numbers.
