Manage Admins
Overview
Use the Admins page to manage users with account-level administrative roles. From this page, you can view account administrators, assign or update administrator roles, remove administrator access, and review administrator activity.
Prerequisites
To access the Admins page, you must have the Account Admin role, or a custom account admin role that includes the Users capability.
Admins Page
To go to the Admins page:
Sign in to Alteryx One, then select Account Admin in the left navigation pane.
From the left navigation menu, select User and Access Management.
Select Admins.
The page displays a list of all account administrators.
The Admins page includes the following information for each administrator:
Name: The administrator's display name.
Email: The administrator's email address.
Roles: The account-level administrator roles assigned to the user.
Capabilities: A summary of the access granted by the assigned role.
Last Login: The date and time the administrator most recently signed in.
Invite an Account Administrator
Use the Invite button to grant account-level administrative access to a user.
Select Invite.
Enter the required user information.
Assign the appropriate administrator role.
Complete the invitation process.
The invited user receives an invitation to join the account with the assigned administrative permissions.
Note
Users invited via SCIM or API don't receive an invite notification by default.
Inviting a user as an account administrator doesn't automatically add them to any workspaces. Workspace Admins manage workspace membership separately.
Edit Administrator Roles
Update the roles assigned to an existing account administrator to adjust their access.
Go to User and Access Management > Admins.
Locate the administrator you want to update.
Select the 3-dot More actions menu.
Select Edit Roles.
Assign the appropriate administrator role.
Save your changes.
Role changes take effect immediately after they're saved.
Remove Administrator Access
Remove account-level administrative privileges from a user.
Go to User and Access Management > Admins.
Locate the administrator.
Select the 3-dot More actions menu.
Select Remove.
Confirm the action.
The user is removed from the list of account administrators.
Note
Removing administrator access doesn’t remove the user from any workspaces. If the user is a member of one or more workspaces, they retain their workspace access until a Workspace Admin removes or updates their membership.
Search for an Administrator
Use the Search field to find administrators by name or email.
The administrator list updates as you enter your search criteria.
Account and Workspace Administration
Account administration and workspace administration are managed independently.
Use the Admins page to manage account administrators, administrator roles, and account-level capabilities. To manage these items, you must have the Account Admin role.
To manage workspace members, workspace roles, and workspace permissions, you must have the Workspace Admin role for the applicable workspace.
To manage a user's access to a specific workspace, open that workspace and use its administration settings. The Admins page only manages account-level administrator roles.
Best Practices
Use custom roles from the Roles page, to grant specific account administrator privileges based on each user's responsibilities.
Review administrator assignments regularly to make sure users have the appropriate level of access.
Remove administrator privileges when they’re no longer needed.
Periodically review the Last Login column as part of your organization's access governance process.
