Hosting and Architecture Overview

  • The SaaS solution is hosted in the Analytics Cloud Google Cloud Platform following multi-layer secured architecture. Our cloud environments have passed strict security controls and is also used by our Government clients and large enterprises.

  • The web servers are run behind Web Application Firewall and Network Security Groups. A Kubernetes cluster is used to host Auto Insights services to ensure high availability.

  • Auto Insights data is stored in cloud-managed MySQL Databases and on encrypted disks. The different applications of Auto Insights communicate with each other over encrypted channels using standardised protocols.

  • For more information, see Data Encryption and Data Segregation.

Ingestion and Data Structure

There are 3 ways data can be ingested into Auto Insights:

  1. Analytics Cloud Datasets: data can be imported directly from an Analytics Cloud dataset which supports file uploads in many formats, a wide range of external connections, or may be the output of a Designer Cloud workflow. For more information see Import Data from Analytics Cloud.

  2. Alteryx Designer via the Auto Insights Uploader: this enables users to surface insights directly from existing workflows. For more information see Import Data via Designer.

  3. Connection or File Upload via Admin Portal: Auto Insights can connect to common databases such as MySQL, MS SQL, and Snowflake, and users can drag and drop a CSV or ZIP file into Auto Insights to surface insights for ad hoc analysis. For more information see Import Data via Admin Portal.

The data structure that works best is structured, transactional, time-series data (uncovering changes, patterns, anomalies, and 'what caused this). Auto Insights does not currently work with unstructured or geospatial data.

The data we fetch is stored on encrypted mounted disks in a secure network location. It is then lightly cleansed and loaded into Auto Insights' own Analytics (OLAP) database. Auto Insights does not create new data or edit or delete existing data in your databases or CSV files. In addition, Auto Insights does not compute directly in your databases or data sources. Computation is carried out within the software itself.
