Databricks Native (ODBC) Connections
You can use the Databricks Native (ODBC) connector to read data from and write data to Databricks in Alteryx One.
This connector is built on the Unified connector framework and uses an Alteryx-managed Databricks ODBC driver. No local driver installation is required.
Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
Driver installation | The driver is provided by Alteryx One. No separate installation is required. |
Connection Type | ODBC |
Support | Read and Write |
Authentication | Basic Authentication |
Prerequisites
Before creating the connection:
Make sure that Alteryx One can access the Databricks workspace and SQL warehouse or compute resource.
Obtain the server hostname and HTTP path from Databricks.
Obtain credentials with access to the required catalogs, schemas, and tables.
Configure the Connection
To create a connection:
In Alteryx One, go to Data > New Connection.
Search for and select Databricks Native.
Configure the connection and credential properties.
Select Test Connection.
After the connection test succeeds, select Create.
Connection Details
Once the connection is created, enter the following details in the appropriate fields:
Connection Name: Display name for the connection in Alteryx One.
Connection Description: Optional description of the connection.
Server Hostname: Hostname of the Databricks workspace.
Port: Port used to connect to Databricks. The typical HTTPS port is 443.
HTTP Path: HTTP path of the Databricks SQL warehouse or compute resource.
Catalog: Optional default catalog.
Schema: Optional default schema.
ODBC Driver: Alteryx-managed Databricks ODBC driver.
Credential Information
Provide the Basic credentials requested in the connection dialog. The credentials must be authorized to access the selected Databricks compute resource and data objects.
Limitations
Only Basic authentication is supported.
OAuth and service-principal authentication are not currently supported.
Existing connections and workflows are not automatically migrated to the new connector.
Existing Databricks Connector
Alteryx One also provides an existing JDBC-based Databricks connector. For information about that connector, see Databricks Connections.
