Ask Alteryx in Alteryx One

New Alteryx One Experience
A new Alteryx One experience built around Ask Alteryx is being rolled out. The rollout is gradual and expected to take one to two months, so not all users see it at the same time. You're using the new experience if your homepage is named Home and opens with the Ask Alteryx box. The new experience adds these capabilities:
A Chats section in the left navigation pane. For more information, go to Manage Ask Alteryx Chats.
File uploads to a chat. For more information, go to Upload Files to Ask Alteryx.
An Assets panel that lists the workflows and datasets in a chat. For more information, go to Find and Open Assets from a Chat.
Starter prompts on the homepage, including guided use cases with sample data. For more information, go to Explore a Use Case with Sample Data.
Modules grouped under Modules in the left navigation pane, with a menu to create new assets.
If your homepage is named Overview, start a chat from the Ask Alteryx box at the top of the page or from Ask Alteryx in the left navigation pane, and find your past chats under Recents. Nothing is wrong with your account. You can build and run workflows, ask questions, and change Ask Alteryx settings in both experiences.

If your homepage is named Overview, enter your request in the Ask Alteryx box at the top of the page, or select one of the suggestions below it. You can also select Ask Alteryx in the left navigation pane.

Ask Alteryx verwenden
Verwenden Sie Ask Alteryx in Alteryx One für:
Find datasets and workflows in your workspace.

Run the workflow and review the results in the chat.
Update the workflow with follow-up requests, such as adding a filter or sorting the results.

Upload Files to a Chat
If your homepage is named Home, you can upload CSV and XLSX files to a chat. Ask Alteryx turns each file into a dataset in Data, so you can build workflows from it. For steps, limits, and error messages, go to Upload Files to Ask Alteryx.
Build and Run a Workflow
Open Ask Alteryx.
Describe the result you want. Name the data to use, the calculation, and how to group or sort the results.
Review the explanation of the workflow and the results.
To change the workflow, send a follow-up request, or select one of the suggested next steps below the response.
Ask Alteryx can take a few minutes to complete a request with several steps. Ask Alteryx saves the workflow to your workspace. To find it, go to Library. For other ways to open it, go to Find and Open Assets from a Chat. To run the workflow again later, go to Save and Re-run a Workflow with Ask Alteryx.
Follow the Progress of a Request
While Ask Alteryx works, the chat shows Thinking and a list of the actions it takes, with a count of completed actions. When the response is complete, the list collapses to Called tools. Expand it to review each action.
For requests with several steps, an Execution Plan appears above the message box. It shows the goal of the request, the tasks Ask Alteryx plans to complete, and the status of each task. Expand the plan to review the tasks.

When an answer is based on help documentation, select the sources link below the response, for example Show 3 Sources, to review the pages Ask Alteryx used.
Open Assets from a Chat
Workflows that Ask Alteryx builds are saved to Library, and datasets are saved to Data. To open them from the chat, including from the Assets panel, go to Find and Open Assets from a Chat.
Find and Manage Chats
If your homepage is named Home, your chats appear in the Chats section of the left navigation pane after you start your first chat, with the most recent chats first. Select a chat to open it and continue. Chats are private to you and to the workspace you use them in.
If your homepage is named Overview, open Ask Alteryx and select Recents to find your chats.
You can pin, rename, and delete chats. Deleting a chat doesn't delete the workflows and datasets in it. For more information, go to Manage Ask Alteryx Chats.
Change Ask Alteryx Settings
The chat shows Data Awareness and its current setting below the message box. Select it to open Settings, where you can:
Turn Data Awareness on or off. With Data Awareness on, Ask Alteryx can sample your workflow data, and it might run your workflow to do so. For more information, go to Data Awareness.
View the workspace Ask Alteryx is connected to, in Current Workspace.
Select Reload Ask Alteryx to restart Ask Alteryx.
Limitations
You can't edit a workflow in the chat. Open the workflow in Designer to make changes.
Ask Alteryx can find and describe macros and analytic apps, but it can't build them.
Ask Alteryx can't build Live Query workflows.
In a browser, a Designer workflow opens in view-only mode. To edit it, open it in the Alteryx One app or in Designer.
