Upgrade Connect

Before You Upgrade

Note

  • You can upgrade from any version to the latest one. In any case, test the upgrade on the sandbox environment in your own infrastructure with your data before upgrading.

  • You also have to upgrade your loaders.

  • Perform the database backup.

  • Review the System Requirements.

  • Check the Connect Release Notes to find out more about new features.

Important

All changes done by 3rd parties or outside the available admin menu will be overwritten. All already loaded assets and all settings done in the Admin Menu will be kept after upgrading Connect.

Follow these steps to upgrade to a newer Connect version:

Perform the Backup

  1. Stop the Alteryx Connect service.

    1. Open Task Manager.

    2. Select the Services tab.

    3. Locate the Alteryx Connect service.

    4. Right-click and select Stop.

  2. Perform the H2 database backup. For more information, go to the Back Up and Restore help page.

  3. Start Alteryx Connect service.

Upgrade

Note

In 2024.2, we changed installers from InstallAware to WiX technology. The upgrade process now has extra steps. For more information, go to Connect 2024.2 Release Notes.

Follow the download and install steps to upgrade to a newer version of Connect.

  1. Run the installer and choose the Upgrade option, then select Next.

  2. A pop-up window appears notifying you that the previous versions will be uninstalled during the installation process. To continue with the Connect upgrade, select Yes.

  3. Wait until the uninstallation of the previous version is complete.

  4. Once the uninstallation is complete, the Alteryx Connect 2024.2 Installer window appears. To install Alteryx Connect Metadata and associated tools, select Next.

  5. To begin the installation, select Install.

  6. Wait until the installation is complete, then select Next.

  7. To start AlteryxService, select the Start Alteryx Connect Service now checkbox, then select Next.

The Alteryx Service should automatically start after the upgrade. If you can't access Connect, confirm the Alteryx Service has restarted:

  1. Open Task Manager.

  2. Select the Services tab.

  3. Locate the Alteryx Connect service.

  4. Confirm the Status shows Running.

  5. If the Status shows Stopped, right-click and select Start.
