Workspace Management

Workspaces are secure, isolated environments within your account that allow you to separate users, processes, data, and use cases.

Important

You must have the Account Admin role to view and manage workspaces.

Your Alteryx One account includes one workspace by default. You can add additional workspaces at no additional cost.

Caution

Consider adding additional workspaces if one or more of the following conditions are true:

  • Laws, regulations, or policies prevent certain users from interacting with other users.

  • Data or processes are sensitive, and you need to control access to them.

  • You have a software development life cycle process that requires production processes to be managed separately from non-production processes.

Workspace View

To view workspaces under your account...

  1. Go to your Alteryx One Account.

    • If you need to sign in, select Manage Account.

    • If you are already signed in, go to the Profile menu > Account Admin.

  2. Go to the Workspaces page.

Column Descriptions
  • Name: A unique identifier assigned to the workspace by you. Users use the workspace name to identify the workspace.

  • ID: A unique identifier that Alteryx One assigns. Use the workspace ID to identify a workspace with Alteryx One APIs, for example.

  • Users: Number of users with access to the workspace.

  • Workspace Admins: A list of users that belong to the workspace and have the Workspace Admin role assigned to them.

  • Authentication Method: The sign-in method the workspace uses. Possible values include: Local (Alteryx credentials), SSO (OIDC), and SSO (SAML).

Workspace Provisioning

To add an additional workspace...

  1. From the Workspaces page, select Create Workspace.

  2. Assign a Workspace Name.

  3. Assign 1 or more Workspace Admins.

Note

Once created, your workspace inherits the products and features enabled for your account. Invite notifications also deploy to any administrators assigned to the workspace.

Edit Workspaces

To change how users identify a workspace…

  1. Hover over the workspace, and select the three-dot menu.

  2. Select Rename.

  3. Enter a new name.

  4. Select Save.

You can also upload an icon to help users visually identify a workspace.

  1. Hover over the workspace, and select the three-dot menu.

  2. Select Edit Icon.

  3. Enter a default icon, or upload an icon.

  4. Select Save.

Deprovision Workspaces

To delete a workspace…

  1. Hover over the workspace, and select the three-dot menu.

  2. Select Delete.

  3. Type Delete in the confirmation field.

  4. Select Delete.

Warning

You can't recover deleted workspaces. All associated metadata is permanently removed.

Data stored outside of Alteryx, such as in your own systems, isn't affected.

Users who only belong to the deleted workspace will have their accounts removed after 90 days.
