Activate License Offline with Alteryx One
Alteryx One App and Offline Designer
To upgrade to or access Designer 2026.1, you must download and install the Alteryx One Windows application (which also installs Designer) from the Alteryx One Download & Activate page. There is no longer a separate Designer installer.
The Alteryx One app supports temporary and permanent offline scenarios. If you don't have an internet connection, you can still launch Designer from the Alteryx One app and activate Designer offline if needed. After activation, you can continue using Designer while offline. Available functionality is limited to the features that Designer supports in offline mode.
You can activate Designer and Server version 2025.1 and later offline with Alteryx One using a file. If you're using an earlier version, we recommend you to download the latest Designer to ensure a smooth activation process.
Tip
This license activation option requires the end user to complete the activation process.
Activate License Offline (File Activation)
To activate license offline, you can submit a request (REQ) for an activation (BIN) file, upload the request (REQ) file to Alteryx One, and then use the BIN file to activate license keys on your computer. A separate license key is required for each product.
To activate Alteryx on a computer that is offline, you must have access to Alteryx One on another computer so that you can upload the request (REQ) file.
If you want to activate with a file, select Activate Offline to open the Activate Offline window.
Create Request (REQ) File from Offline Computer
Open Designer. The Alteryx Designer Activation window opens.
If the window does not open automatically, select Options > Manage Licenses. From the window, select Activate Offline.
In the Offline Activation window, select the Download Request File to create a request (REQ) file to request product activation.
The file explorer opens. Select a destination on your computer where the request file can be accessed from Alteryx One , enter a file name, and select Save.
Alteryx creates a Request File.
Create Activation File
Once the Request File is saved, upload it to the Alteryx One App to generate an activation file. Download the generated activation file and transfer it to the offline computer where Designer is installed. Use this activation file to complete the offline license activation process. To create an activation file:
Open Alteryx One App and select Download and Activate.
Under Offline Activation, select Activate Offline.
Drag and drop the REQ file, or browse to find and select it.
Select Create Activation File.
The generated BIN file downloads to your computer.
Alteryx One generates an activation file with your email address and .bin extension. For example, name@company.com.bin. Alteryx saves the activation file as a binary (BIN) file to the computer's default download location. The BIN file contains the activation information.
Create Activation File using Browser
If you are an existing customer and you have older Designer versions installed, you can choose to create the activation file using your browser. Note that you will need internet access.
Open Alteryx One in your browser and sign in.
Select Download and Activate.
Under Download and Activate , select Older Designer Versions tab.
Under Offline Activation, select Activate Offline.
Upload the Request File and select Create Activation File.
Open Activation (BIN) File on Offline Computer
On the offline computer, browse to the activation file you created in the previous step. This file must be accessible to the offline computer. If you sent the file to the offline computer, you can search for capabilityresponse.bin file to locate it.
In the Alteryx Designer Activation window on the offline computer, select Browse Activation File to find and select the activation (BIN) file.
In the Activation Success window, select Start Solving.
The Designer tools are now available.
