Download and Install Alteryx One App

Use this guide to download and install the Alteryx One app on your computer. The installer walks you through each step and checks that your system is ready before installation begins.

Alteryx One app manages its own updates through an evergreen model. This model applies only to the Alteryx One app and does not apply to Designer.

Before You Install

Review these requirements:

  • Install only one Alteryx One app type at a time (Admin or Non-Admin).

  • Designer versions prior to 2026.1 are downloaded and installed separately through the Download Center. The Alteryx One app launches the Designer version you have installed and notifies you to upgrade to the latest version.

  • Designer 2026.1 and later versions installed through the Alteryx One app launch from the Alteryx One app.

If you want to switch between Admin and Non-Admin installers, uninstall the current Alteryx One app type and then install the other type.

Admin vs Non-Admin Installer

  • Admin Installer

    • Requires administrator privileges to install.

    • Installs the Alteryx One app for all users on the machine.

    • Allows installation in system-level directories.

    • Supports centralized management and control.

    • Recommended for IT-managed or enterprise environments.

  • Non-Admin Installer

    • Doesn't require administrator privileges.

    • Installs the Alteryx One app only for the current user.

    • Installs in user-level directories.

    • Recommended for individual or personal use.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose the Admin Installer for shared machines or managed environments.

  • Choose the Non-Admin Installer if you don't have admin access or need a personal installation.

Download the Alteryx One App

To download the Alteryx One app…

  1. Go to the Download Center.

  2. Select Alteryx One from the tabs.

  3. Select Download.

  4. When the download finishes, open the installer file from your browser or your computer’s Downloads folder.

Install the Alteryx One App

Once you download the Alteryx One app from the Download Center, you must install it on your system.

To install the Alteryx One app…

  1. Open the Alteryx One installer.

  2. On the welcome screen, select Next.

  3. Wait while the installer runs a system check. After the check completes, select Next.

  4. Select Launch Alteryx One to open the app, or select Close to exit.

Install Admin Version

To install the Alteryx One app for all users on a machine, run the installer from the command line with administrator access.

To install the admin version of the Alteryx One app…

  1. Download the Alteryx One app installer from the Alteryx One Platform Download Center.

  2. Open a Command Prompt with administrator access.

  3. Navigate to the folder where the installer was downloaded.

  4. Run the installer with the /ALLUSERS switch. For example:

    C:\Users\user_name\Downloads> .\AlteryxOne-<version>-setup.exe /ALLUSERS

    Replace <version> with the actual installer file name.

This installs the Alteryx One app for all users on the system.

Sign In to the Alteryx One App

After installation, sign in to the Alteryx One app to access your workspace and begin using its features. Use your Alteryx account credentials to sign in and continue.

To sign in to the Alteryx One app…

  1. Select Sign In in the Alteryx One app.

  2. The sign-in portal opens in a browser. Enter your email address.

  3. Select Next.

  4. Enter the One-Time Password received in your email.

  5. Select Validate.

  6. Select the workspace you want to access.

  7. Enter the password.

  8. Select Sign-In.

  9. Once you are signed in, close the browser and return to the app.

To activate the Alteryx One app in an offline environment, go to Activate Offline with Alteryx One.

Note

After selecting the offline activation process, Designer automatically launches.

Access Alteryx One in a Browser

Access Alteryx One in a browser if you don't want to install the desktop app. The browser version provides access to your workspace and supported features without local installation.

To access Alteryx One in a web browser…

  1. Go to the Alteryx One portal.

  2. Sign in with the required credentials.

  3. Select the workspace.

  4. Sign in with the credentials.

  5. If you don't have the desktop application installed, then you will be prompted to continue in the web browser or download the desktop application.

    1. Select Continue in the browser to continue using Alteryx One in the web browser.

    2. Select Download Desktop App to download the desktop application.

On the home page of the browser version of Alteryx One, there is a banner prompting you to download the Alteryx One desktop application if you do not already have it.

Select Download Desktop App to go to the Download Center. Select Download to download the Alteryx One desktop app.

Designer Installation and Updates with Alteryx One App

The Alteryx One app serves as the central entry point for downloading, launching, and managing Designer 2026.1 and later versions. It provides access to Designer capabilities and controls how Designer is installed and updated. Designer remains the primary tool for building workflows, while the Alteryx One app manages access, installation type, and connectivity to cloud features.

After installation of the Alteryx One app, the experience for the Designer 2026.1 desktop version depends on whether Designer is already installed on your device.

Follow these steps to upgrade your existing (older) Designer installed via the Alteryx One app to the latest Designer version.

If you already have Designer installed...

  1. Select Launch Alteryx One after the installation of Alteryx One app.

  2. An Upgrade Available notification is displayed.

  3. The notification displays:

    • The current Designer version

    • Available Alteryx One Designer version.

  4. Select Get Designer to start downloading the corresponding version of the Designer installer. Or, select Remind Me Later to schedule the upgrade.

  5. Confirm that you want to upgrade your existing Designer.

    Note

    The upgrade replaces the older Designer version with the new Designer version.

  6. The Designer installer launches automatically when the download completes.

    Note

    All existing workflows and settings are preserved unless otherwise specified.

Alteryx One app installs and works only with the Designer version that matches the app's installation type (Admin or non-admin).

The install type (Admin or non-admin) is determined when you install the Alteryx One app. If a matching version of Designer is not already present on your device, the app installs the appropriate version automatically.

For example, if Designer is installed as Admin but Alteryx One app is installed as a non-admin (user), the app will not detect the existing Designer installation. It will instead install a non-admin version of Designer.

If you don't have Designer installed...

If no existing Designer version is found, Designer 2026.1 (non-admin) is installed silently after the Alteryx One app installation is complete.

You are notified when the installation finishes and the Designer is ready to use.
