AI Metadata Enrichment for Asset Search
Alteryx One now uses AI to generate metadata for the assets in your account, which makes it easier to search for and discover existing assets across your workspaces. Processing begins October 5, 2026.
What's included:
Enriched Assets: Alteryx One analyzes datasets, connections, macros, and workflows to generate business-friendly descriptions. Designer and Designer Cloud workflows are supported at launch, and Live Query workflow support is coming soon. Connection credentials, secrets, and authentication tokens are never included in this processing.
Improved Search: This metadata improves the search capability of the Assets toolset included with the Alteryx MCP Server, so your teams can more easily find and reuse existing work. There is no separate view for the generated metadata.
Whether It Starts On: New accounts start with this setting enabled. Existing accounts start with it enabled only when Ask Alteryx, AI Agents, and Alteryx MCP Server are all already enabled. If any of those is off, this setting starts disabled and an Account AdminAdministrador de cuenta must turn it on.
Admin Controls: An Account AdminAdministrador de cuenta can enable or disable the AI Metadata Enrichment capability for the whole account. A Workspace AdminAdministrador de espacio de trabajo can enable or disable the Metadata Enrichment setting for a single workspace.
Effective Date: Processing begins October 5, 2026 for accounts that have not disabled the setting. If you disable this setting at any point, processing stops as of the date and time you make that change. If you enable it again later, a new effective date applies.
Atención
Do not include Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or other sensitive information in your assets due to privacy concerns.

Datasets No Longer Require Setup for Insights
Updated Set Up Assets so you no longer set up a dataset before you use it for insights. Any Alteryx One dataset you have permission to access is now available to Alteryx Agents and supported AI clients.
The Datasets For Insights tab and the Use For Generating Insights toggle are removed. Alteryx One prepares each dataset the first time you use it for insights. Preparation runs in the background and happens once per dataset.
The Workflow Shortcuts tab is unchanged. You still set up workflows and analytic apps before a supported AI client can call them directly by name.

Expanded Toolsets Available for Alteryx MCP Server
This update expands the Alteryx MCP Server from 2 toolsets to 7. With the new toolsets, AI agents can search Alteryx knowledge sources, validate formulas, discover workspace assets, work with datasets directly, and build or run Designer workflows in the cloud. This update also adds new capabilities to the existing Insights toolset.
What's included:
Knowledge: Use the Knowledge toolset so an agent can search Alteryx knowledge sources, such as Help documentation and Knowledge Base content, for relevant product information.
Formula Service: Use Formula Service to validate and parse a formula against the available fields.
Assets: Use Assets to search Alteryx One assets that the authenticated user can access. An agent can discover an asset and review it before acting on it through another toolset.
Datasets: Use the Datasets toolset to preview datasets, retrieve schema information, and create new empty datasets.
Designer: Use the Designer toolset so an agent can create, update, run, and inspect Designer workflows stored in the Alteryx One Library. Input and output configurations are limited to Alteryx One datasets because Designer workflows run in a cloud environment.
Insights: Added new capabilities for the existing Insights toolset. Agents can now retrieve individual data rows from a dataset, calculate variance against a goal, resolve a natural-language date period into a usable analysis period, and show total-level outliers.

Introducing Agent Studio
Agent Studio is a new module in Alteryx One for creating AI-powered analytic experiences. Use Agent Studio to build Alteryx Agents, connect external AI apps to Alteryx One data, and prepare datasets, workflows, and analytic apps for AI use.
What's included:
Alteryx Agents: Build an agent to answer natural-language questions about your datasets. Select 1 or more datasets, add custom instructions and starter prompts to guide the agent's responses, and preview the agent before you share it. Agents can return trend analysis, root cause analysis, common cause analysis, and outlier detection.
Alteryx MCP Server: Connect a supported external AI app or MCP client to your Alteryx One datasets, workflows, and analytic apps.
External Marketplace Apps: Ask questions about Alteryx One datasets from the Alteryx Insights plugin for ChatGPT or the Alteryx AI Insights agent for Gemini Enterprise.
Set Up Assets: Prepare datasets, workflows, and analytic apps for use in Alteryx Agents or connected MCP clients.
