Databricks Spark (ODBC) Connections
You can use the Databricks Spark (ODBC) connector to read data from and write data to a Spark endpoint hosted in Databricks from Alteryx One.
This connector is built on the Unified connector framework and uses an Alteryx-managed ODBC driver. No local driver installation is required.
Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
Driver installation | The driver is provided by Alteryx One. No separate installation is required. |
Connection Type | ODBC |
Support | Read and Write |
Authentication | Basic Authentication |
Prerequisites
Before creating the connection:
Make sure that Alteryx One can access the Databricks Spark endpoint.
Obtain the server, port, and any endpoint-specific connection information.
Obtain credentials with the required database permissions.
Configure the Connection
To create a connection:
In Alteryx One, go to Data > New Connection.
Search for and select Databricks Spark.
Configure the connection and credential properties.
Select Test Connection.
After the connection test succeeds, select Create.
Connection Details
Once the connection is created, enter the following details in the appropriate fields:
Connection Name: Display name for the connection in Alteryx One.
Connection Description: Optional description of the connection.
Server: Hostname of the Databricks Spark endpoint.
Port: Port used by the endpoint.
Database: Optional default database or schema.
HTTP Path: Endpoint path, when required by the selected configuration.
ODBC Driver: Alteryx-managed Spark ODBC driver.
Credential Information
Credential Type: Select Username and Password. Only Basic authentication is currently supported.
Username: Required. Enter the username expected by the Spark endpoint.
Password: Required. Enter the password associated with the username.
Limitations
Only Basic authentication is supported.
Existing connections and workflows are not automatically migrated to the new connector.
Existing Databricks Spark Connector
Alteryx One also provides an existing JDBC-based Databricks Spark connector. For information about that connector, see Databricks Connections.
