Alteryx Links
The Alteryx Link is a single, global connection between Designer and an Alteryx One workspace. It is designed to streamline workflows by eliminating the need to repeatedly select a Link when using SDK-based tools or cloud features.
The Alteryx Link can be established during the following scenarios:
Signing in to Alteryx One App:
When you sign in to the Alteryx One App and select a workspace:
An Alteryx Link is automatically created for your user and the selected workspace (if Designer is installed).
The selected workspace is set as your current workspace in the app.
Designer automatically syncs to reflect the same user and current workspace.
Installing Designer while signed in to Alteryx One:
When you install Alteryx Designer for the first time while already signed in to the Alteryx One App:
An Alteryx Link is automatically created for your user and the selected workspace.
That workspace is set as your current workspace in Designer.
Link Designer Desktop with Alteryx One
To link Designer Desktop with Alteryx One using Alteryx Links:
In Designer, go to File > Manage Connections > Alteryx Links. Select the Connect to Alteryx One button at the top-right of the page.
In the dialog box that pops up, select the cloud Instance where you want to connect (United States, Europe, Australia, or Custom Instance).
Sign in to your Alteryx One Platform and select the workspace you want to connect to.
Once you have successfully signed in, the browser and Designer display a success message. You can then close the browser and Designer windows.
Connections are securely authenticated via the browser and automatically saved in DCM with labels for easy identification.
Manage Alteryx Links
You can perform the following actions with Alteryx Links:
Edit Alteryx Link: Under Alteryx Links, select the name of an existing link that you want to edit, and click Edit. You can edit the Connection Details, Data Source, and Credentials.
Synchronize Alteryx Link: Select the Synchronize option next to the existing link to sync your credentials between Designer and Alteryx One.
Delete Alteryx Link: Click the three-dot (More) icon next to the existing link and select Delete. The link is permanently deleted.
Note
An Alteryx Link can only be deleted when it is not set as the active link.
Override Alteryx Link
The Alteryx Link, when set to active, represents the currently selected workspace connection in Designer. It determines which workspace your assets (such as workflows, connections, and related resources) are stored in. You can temporarily change or replace a current active link in Designer. Active links are determined by the workspace selected in the Alteryx One App.
To override an existing Alteryx link, click the three-dot (More) icon next to the existing link and select Set as Active.
Important
Multiple Alteryx Links can exist for the same data source, but only one link can be active at a time.
Changing the active link in Designer is temporary. Restarting the Alteryx One App or Designer will revert it to the link defined in the app.
