Use the Plugin in Claude

Type / in the message composer to select an Alteryx skill directly. Or ask Claude a question that needs Alteryx data or workflows, and Claude invokes the right skill for you.

What You Can Do

The Alteryx plugin for Claude includes three skills:

  • alteryx-asset-discovery: Find Alteryx workflows and datasets that are available to you.

  • alteryx-insights: Ask questions about Alteryx One datasets that are set up for Insights MCP, and get trend, root cause, common cause, and outlier analysis.

  • alteryx-designer: Build, inspect, run, and repair Alteryx workflows for governed, repeatable business analysis.

Review results before you use them downstream. Outputs might vary across runs.

Alteryx also publishes these skills to the alteryx/skills GitHub repository. Claude Code and Claude Desktop users can add them from there as the Alteryx Skills Marketplace Plugin. The two plugins provide the same three skills. If you already added Alteryx skills from GitHub, you don't need to also add the Alteryx plugin from the Claude Plugin Directory. Installing both can create duplicate or conflicting Alteryx connections. Refer to Get Started with Alteryx Skills for the GitHub install path.

Security and Data Handling

The plugin uses OAuth to connect Claude to Alteryx One as you. Your Alteryx One permissions set which datasets and workflows the plugin can use. Requests between Claude and Alteryx One route through the Alteryx One control plane.

Your organization's Anthropic contract, edition, admin settings, and security controls govern any data that Claude stores, such as chat history or tool transcripts.
