Actual versus Goals
An introduction to compare your key metrics with your goals using Missions.
Using Auto Insights, understand your key metrics better by comparing them against your goals (for example, budgets, targets) and see if they are on track to achieve your desired outcomes.
Find this feature in Missions via the How are the goals tracking? tab.
There’s a wide range of visualization types available that help you tell your story better.
Easily explore and understand the contributing factors of the variance calculated. To do so, see the What caused the variance section.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Auto Insights support goals for custom measures (for example, conversion rate %), counts (for example, Number of Incidents), or Averages (for example, Average Sales per Salesperson)?
The current version only supports goals for Measures (for example, Sales, Expenses, etc.).
Can I compare my goals for incomplete periods (for example, the Month of Aug when it’s only the 4th Aug today)?
The current version only supports complete periods in the main dataset.
Why can’t see any goals analysis when I click on my Mission?
If you’re not able to see the “How are the goals tracking” tab on the Missions page, it could be for 2 reasons:
There are no goals mapped to this dataset.
You are looking at a Common Cause analysis (a page with 2 query bars) which does not work with goals.
Why is it that Auto Insights is telling me that it’s good when my expense is above budget?
Your main dataset has been configured that it’s “good” when expenses increase. Hence if you wish to change that, your dataset admin would need to re-configure expenses to be “it’s bad when this increases”.
