Google Cloud Storage (GCS) is a web service for storing and accessing files on Google Cloud Platform. The service combines the performance and scalability of the Google cloud with advanced security.Using Google Cloud Storage is only supported while also using DCM.

Set Up Google Cloud Storage Connection

  1. Drop Input (or Output) tool on canvas and select Set Up Connection(Make sure DCM is enabled. For more information on managing data sources in DCM, go to DCM – Designer).

  2. In the Data Connections window, go to Data sources and select Quick Connect for Google Cloud Storage (GCS).

  3. Select + New in the Connection Manager window.

  4. Define the Data Source Name and Catalog (Project ID).

  5. Select Save.

  6. Select + Connect Credetial.

  7. Choose Authentication Method:

    • Google Workload Identity Federation With Entra ID - to access Microsoft Entra protected resources without needing to manage secrets.

    • Sign-in with Google - fill in Credential Name to provide a token storage name.

    • Sign-in with Google–Private - provide your OAuth Application (Client ID and Client Secret) with OAuth Tokens.

  8. Select Create and Link.

  9. Select Connect.

  10. You are redirected to your browser to sign in and allow your account to connect.

  11. You can now browse and select your objects from GCS in the left panel.

    For an Output tool, you can choose to Add Folder or Add File to selected bucket or folder. Also, you can select Output Actions for Every Run:

    • Create Only

    • Overwrite

    • Skip Existing

  12. Hit Select to select your file.

  13. Based on the file type selected, Designer automatically pre-selects the type of file from the dropdown. However, you can select any other file type. Designer shows all the file specific options according to the file type selected. Configure the file options and select Confirm.

  14. You can review the configuration in the overview, including the selected target and the set up of file specific options.

  15. Now you can run the workflow.
