Alteryx One Licensing

Starting with the release of Designer and Server version 2025.1, you can license your on-prem products with Alteryx One. Starting with Alteryx One, all license management happens in Alteryx One—regardless of version.

Designer and Alteryx One App

Important

New in 2026.1: Designer is installed via the Alteryx One app.

The Alteryx One app installs Designer and manages updates. For details, go to Alteryx One App.

  • You can install only one Alteryx One app type at a time (Admin or Non-Admin).

  • Designer applications. Designer versions prior to 2026.1 are downloaded and installed separately through the Download Center. The Alteryx One app launches the Designer version you have installed and notifies you to upgrade to the latest version.

  • Designer 2026.1 and later versions are installed and launched via the Alteryx One app.

If you want to switch between Admin and Non-Admin types, uninstall your current Alteryx One app type and install the other type. For details and instructions, go to Download and Install.

Upgrade Designer via Alteryx One App

Going forward, you will upgrade Designer via the Alteryx One app. For more information, go to Version Updates.

To upgrade Designer via the Alteryx One app, follow these steps:

  1. Once installed, launch the Alteryx One app. If the app detects an existing version of Designer and a new version is available, it prompts you to upgrade.

  2. Select Get Designer to download and install Designer. Select Remind Me Later to dismiss the notification (the notification will reappear the next time you launch the Alteryx One app).

  3. If you select to proceed with the upgrade, the Alteryx One app downloads and installs Designer. You don’t need to interact with an installer UI. The version of Designer (admin or non-admin) installed depends on your Alteryx One app installation type.

    • If your installation type is admin (per-machine), the app downloads and installs the admin (per-machine) type of Designer.

    • If your installation type is non-admin (per-user), the app downloads and installs the non-admin (per-user) type of Designer.

    Note

    Non-admin is the default installation.

  4. Once Designer is installed, you’ll receive a confirmation notification in the Alteryx One app, and you can start using Designer.
