Alteryx One App

The Alteryx One app provides a unified experience for the Alteryx One platform. It connects Designer and Alteryx cloud in a single entry point. Use the Alteryx One app to prepare data, build workflows, automate processes, and create reports in a single platform.

A cloud login is required to access the Download Center and to use both the desktop application and the web version of Alteryx One. All Alteryx One app and Designer 2026.1 (and newer) users must sign in with their cloud account. The desktop version of the Alteryx One app lets you launch Designer directly from the app.

These Alteryx One experiences are available to support your Designer and cloud workflows:

  • Desktop app (Windows): A Windows application that serves as the central interface to launch Designer and access cloud apps. You must install this app to upgrade to Designer 2026.1 or later.

  • Web companion: A web experience that lets you use Alteryx cloud capabilities without Designer integration.

Note

The ability to launch the Designer and display locally saved workflows in the Recent Assets list on the Alteryx One app homepage is the primary difference between the desktop version of the Alteryx One app and the web browser experience.

Alteryx One app delivers a fast, integrated Designer experience. Designer opens quickly and appears as part of the Alteryx One app rather than as a standalone program. Workflows load quickly, so you can start working without delay.

Install Alteryx One App

The Alteryx One app is available for download in the Alteryx One web companion. You can access Alteryx One according to your region:

The Alteryx One app installer is available in admin and non-admin versions and matches the region of your Alteryx One instance. However, you can install only the admin or non-admin version on your machine.

Install Alteryx Modules

You can install these Alteryx modules using the Alteryx One app:

  • Designer version 2026.1 and later: The Alteryx One app installs the matching admin or non-admin, and also the regional version.

Auto-Updates

Alteryx One uses an evergreen update model.

With evergreen updates…

  • Alteryx One automatically updates to the latest supported version.

  • Designer 2026.1 and later versions update through Alteryx One app.

  • You don't manually download new minor versions for supported releases.

If you install the Admin version, your organization may control update timing through administrative policies.

Evergreen updates ensure that you use the latest supported version without separate manual upgrades.

For more details about the supported versions, go to the version support policy.Version Support Policy

Designer Streamlined Updates

Designer updates to the latest version are managed through the Alteryx One app.

The Alteryx One app simplifies the Designer updates with this flow:

  1. The Alteryx One app checks for available new versions.

  2. The Alteryx One app notifies you when a new version is available and prompts you to confirm installation.

  3. Once confirmed, the update is automatically downloaded and installed in the background, without requiring interaction with the installer screens. The app installs the appropriate admin or non-admin version based on your current setup.

  4. During installation, Designer is temporarily unavailable. You won’t be able to open workflows or use Designer until the update is complete. However, you can continue to use other areas of the Alteryx One app during this time.

Authentication and Workspace Sync

The Alteryx One app keeps your sign-in and workspace selection consistent across the app and Designer.

Sign In Once

Sign in one time to access cloud services in both the Alteryx One app and Designer.

When you sign in to the Alteryx One app:

  • You are prompted to choose one workspace out of the different workspaces you have access to.

  • The app creates an Alteryx Link for your user and workspace (if Designer is installed).

  • The selected workspace becomes your current workspace.

  • Designer automatically reflects the same user and workspace as selected in the Alteryx One app.

When you install Designer for the first time while signed in to the Alteryx One app:

  • The app creates an Alteryx Link for your current user and workspace. Go to Alteryx Links for more information.Alteryx Links

  • The workspace you select in the Alteryx One app becomes your current workspace in Designer.

Workspaces in the Alteryx One App

The Alteryx One app manages sign-in and workspace selection for Designer. When you sign in and select a workspace, Designer automatically uses that workspace.

Most users have access to one workspace. If you have access to multiple workspaces, you select a workspace during sign-in and can switch between them in the Alteryx One app. Designer stays in sync with your current workspace selected in the Alteryx One app.

Select a different workspace from the workspace menu in the Alteryx One app to switch to it.

When you switch workspaces in the Alteryx One app:

  • The app creates an Alteryx Link for the workspace if one doesn't already exist.

  • The selected workspace becomes your current workspace in both the Alteryx One app and Designer. However, you can switch workspaces only through the Alteryx One app. You can also override an active Alteryx Link. To learn more about Alteryx Links, go to Alteryx Links.Alteryx Links

  • When you switch to a different workspace, the Alteryx Links to other workspaces remain accessible, but they are no longer active.

This sync between the Alteryx One app and Designer keeps your authentication and workspace selection in sync across your desktop and cloud experiences. This sync applies only when using the Alteryx One app; sessions in the Alteryx One web browser are separate and do not sync.

Note

  • When Designer is installed for the first time, it sets your current workspace based on your signed-in session in the Alteryx One app.

  • When you switch workspaces in the Alteryx One app, Designer updates to the same workspace. If the workspace does not exist, the app creates it and sets it as the current workspace.

  • Designer keeps existing workspace connections and marks only one as the current workspace.

  • To switch workspaces, go to the Alteryx One app. You cannot switch workspaces in Designer.

  • When you sign out, the Alteryx One app returns you to the welcome screen.
