Manage Assets

You can access many asset actions via the Library. Each asset has several actions available via its context (3-dot) menu. These actions vary depending on the asset type. To access the asset context menu, select Library from the left navigation pane and select the 3-dot menu for any specific asset in the list.

Important

The context menu options vary based on asset type, user roles, and permissions.

Run, Schedule, and Orchestrator Compatibility

At this time, the ability to run and schedule is not available for these Designer assets:

  • Designer Workflows (YXMD)

  • Designer Macros (YXMC)

  • Designer Analytic Apps (YXWZ)

Additionally, these Designer assets are not available to use in Orchestrator Plans.

View Asset Details

Select View Asset Details to open the Asset Details page. This is the central location for viewing and managing an individual asset. It serves as the asset's "profile page," where users can inspect metadata, understand relationships, and perform actions based on their permissions. For more information, go to Asset Details.

Run

Select Run* to execute the asset immediately.

*You can run and schedule a Designer workflow package (YXZP) in Alteryx One. However, at this time, the ability to run and schedule Designer workflows (YXMD), macros (YXMC), and Analytic Apps (YXWZ) is not available.

Schedule

Select Schedule to open the Schedule dialog, where you can view existing schedules the asset is a part of, and add a new schedule. For details, go to Schedules.

*You can run and schedule a Designer workflow package (YXZP) in Alteryx One. However, at this time, the ability to run and schedule Designer workflows (YXMD), macros (YXMC), and Analytic Apps (YXWZ) is not available.

Share

Select Share to share the asset with another user in your workspace. Follow these steps to share the asset:

  1. Use the Select Users or Groups dropdown to select or search for the users you want to share the asset with.

  2. Select the required privilege level for the receiving user:

    • Viewer: User can read and run the asset.

    • Contributor: User can read, update, and run the asset.

    • Editor: User can read, update, share, and run the asset.

  3. Select Share to finish or Close to abandon the process.

Move

Select Move to move the asset into a folder. For details, go to Folders.

Download

Select Download to download a local copy of the asset to your machine.

Tags

Select Tag to apply tags to the asset or access the Manage Tags window. For details, go to Tags.

Data Labels

Select Data Labels to apply labels to your asset. For details, go to Data Labels.

Duplicate

Select Duplicate to create a copy of the asset.

  1. In the Duplicate modal, provide a name for the copy.

  2. Select Save to finish.

Transfer Ownership

Select Transfer Ownership to transfer asset ownership to another user on the workspace. For details, go to Transfer Asset Ownership.

Version History

Select Version History to open the asset's Version History dialog. Here, you can restore older versions of the asset and create a new asset from previous versions.

Delete

Select Delete to launch the delete asset dialog. Select Delete again to confirm.

Warning

Deletion is permanent.
