Add Layers

The first step in any analysis is bringing in data. Use Add Layers to input data into Location Intelligence.

  1. Select Add Layers. The Platform datasets from these supported formats display here.Location Intelligence supports input of these formats:

    • CSV

    • Parquet

    • Snowflake

  2. Select a platform dataset and then select Use. The Create Layers pane displays.

In Location Intelligence a layer represents a spatial column in a dataset. Datasets with multiple spatial columns are supported. A single dataset may produce multiple layers.

  3. The Create Layers pane shows spatial columns from the source dataset, each of which can be displayed as layers. If a spatial column is deselected, it remains in the output dataset. Only spatial columns from schematized sources will appear here. If there are no spatial columns, no layers appear.

  4. (Optional): Select Add Custom Layer. The Custom Latitude and Longitude dialog displays.

  5. (Optional): Select the required latitude and longitude fields from the Latitude and Longitude dropdowns.

  6. (Optional): Select Next. The Create Layers dialog displays.

You can edit the layer name if required.

  7. Select Create. The created layers are loaded on the map canvas.

    • You can select the Map legends at the bottom of the map canvas to view them. The layers are automatically added.

    • Select the gear icon to remove the layers.

    • The Legend automatically updates based on the style selected in the Edit Style pane. If no layers are present, the legend cannot be expanded.

The Latitude and Longitude coordinates must be in WGS84 standard. If the coordinate pairs are null or invalid, it returns a null geometry for that record.
