The Behavior Analysis tools have been deprecated as of version 2022.3. These tools will continue to work with US Business Insights Data Packages 2021 Q4 and earlier versions.

Cluster Code ID Workaround

The now-deprecated Cluster Code tool appends a Cluster Code field to a record input stream. It uses a Cluster Level ID as the mapping field.

The Allocate Input and Allocate Append tools allow you to replicate the same functionality for the Cluster Level ID - Block Group. These tools require the Business Insights data package.

See below for the configuration to use with the Allocate Append tool.

Use Cluster Code to append a Cluster Code field to a stream of records using a Cluster Level ID, like a Block Group Key.

A Cluster Code is a classification of a type of individual as defined by a Segmentation System. The Segmentation system classifies individuals based on demographic data and behavioral attributes and organizes those individuals into groups. Those groups are classified further into smaller Clusters. The Cluster code appended to each record is indicative of the dominant Cluster presence for the specified geography (for example Block Group).

Set the default dataset from User Settings. Go to Options > User Settings > Edit User Settings and open the Dataset Defaults tab.

  1. Choose Dataset: Select the Dataset to use. Each dataset has its own Profiles and Profile Sets that are specific to the selected clustering system. These datasets require a current subscription and license. Please contact your Alteryx account representative for more information regarding compatible datasets. For best results, keep your datasets consistent with each Behavior tool. Choosing "Most Recent Vintage" rather than a specific dataset ensures the most current dataset is used and won't require updating your workflow. You can easily specify the dataset in multiple tools at once with the Workflow Dependencies to ensure consistency throughout your workflow.

  2. Cluster Level ID: Use the dropdown list to specify which field in the data stream is the Cluster Level ID (for example, Block Group Key).

    • A Cluster Level ID must be complete.

    • Partial IDs (State, County, etc.) are not accepted. NULL is returned.
