AUS_Geocoder_71x71dc24.png Australia/New Zealand Geocoder Tool

Use the Australia/New Zealand Geocoder tool to assign address data to a spatial object, to pinpoint locations, display them on a map, and carry out geography-based analyses. The Australia/New Zealand Geocoder produces a record-for-record geocode result for Australia and New Zealand addresses, including formatted address fields from TomTom, the level of geography that determined the match, latitude and longitude coordinates, and a spatial object. In addition, it produces a summary output that provides a count of records per geolevel, accompanied by detailed geolevel descriptions.

This tool is a macro that requires a separate data install and license. To use this tool, contact your Account Executive.

Input Tab

  1. Select the radio buttons for Australia and New Zealand.

Only one radio button per country and its selection of addresses can be selected at a time.

  2. Select the radio button for the Multiple addresses field to specify the fields of the incoming data stream.

    • Address

    • City

    • State/Territory

    • Postal Code

If only a single address is to be entered, select the radio button for the Single address field, and enter the full address.

Anchor Options

There are 2 outputs from this tool: The left anchor and the right anchor.

Left Anchor

Geocoded records stream out of the left side of the tool, labeled with a G. This data includes your original data records and Address fields, along with the additional fields you've selected to output as a result of the geocoding process.

The only fields returned from your input are the Address fields specified on the Input tab. If you need additional input fields, join the fields back to the output of the geocoder tool. Records output in the same order as you input them, so you can join by record position.

Right Anchor

A data summary streams out of the right side of the tool, labeled with an S. The data stream includes 2 fields:

  • Match type: The indication for the accuracy of the geocoding match.

  • Count: The number of records for each match type.

Geocoder Options

In the Australia/New Zealand Geocoder (1) - Configuration pane > Options tab > Geocoder Results > Select output options, select the fields to include in the Geocode (G) output. Specify how records should be sorted in the Summary (S) output.

Geolevel Match Summary: Select how you want your data to be sorted.

  1. For accuracy, select the radio button Sort by Accuracy (best - worst).

  2. To sort by match, select the radio button Sort by Match Count (max - min).

Under Advanced Options, select the Preserve input fields checkbox. The original field names specified on the Input tab are output from the tool when checked. Left unchecked, the specified fields will be renamed to: Address, City, State, and Postal code.

Select the Select Match Threshold Level dropdown to specify by, such as:

  1. 2 (default)

  2. 3

  3. 4 (lowest match threshold - slowest speed).
